While it’s virtually impossible to eliminate every bit of chatter in every turning situation, Haas has developed a feature called Spindle Speed Variation (SSV) that significantly reduces the effects of machining vibration. Here’s how it works: SSV automatically speeds up and slows down the spindle throughout the cutting process to keep the cut out of the chatter zone. You can use SSV with or without tailstock support.

In this new video Haas explains the principle behind SSV and demonstrates how it works with G96 and G50 G-codes.

To learn more about SSV and how it can help your shop improve product finish while reducing scrap and rework, contact your Torrance Haas Factory Outlet to learn more and arrange for a demonstration. Call (310) 381-0750, email: jphillips@haasfactoryoutlet.com, or visit www.haasfactoryoutlet.com.
