See Why Now is the Time to Move from Manual Machining to CNC

Posted on Jul 15, 2016 12:00:00 AM

Changing machine tools is always a challenge for operators who are comfortable with a process they’ve used for a long time. However the many advantages of CNC machining, including reduced cycle time, faster throughput and lower cost-per-part are hard to ignore.

For shops that want to make the transition from manual machining to CNC, Haas has great news. After discussions with many machine shops the company completely redesigned its entry-level TL-1 lathe to make it even easier for manual machinists to get up and running with a CNC machine that provides advantages typically found in more expensive machines.

In this new video you’ll see many of the new TL-1 features including:

  • A redesigned enclosure that provides easier access and funnels chips and coolant for easier removal
  • LED lighting for greater visibility
  • A repositioned bulkhead allows easier access to the chuck
  • New ballscrew and linear guides design enables greater rigidity for a more accurate cut
  • A new spindle accepts either 8” or 10” chucks, and is driven by a vector motor providing greater acceleration and deceleration
